4, May 2018, Professor Jianguo Wu of Arizona State University and the editor-in-chief of the internationally renowned SCI journal “Landscape Ecology” came to gave an academic report entitled “Sustainable Science and Ecological Civilization – Ecological Civilization Construction”. Dean Hualin Xie hosted the academic report. Some Scholars from Nanchang University, Tourism and Urban Management College in Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, and researchers Staff in institute of ecological Civilization attended this academic report.

Professor Wu believes that sustainability is the core concept and ultimate goal of ecological civilization, and analyzes the links and differences between weak sustainability, strong sustainability, Resilience, Vulnerability. Secondly, Professor Wu also concludes that sustainable science is the scientific basis for the construction of ecological civilization. He defined that what is sustainable science, what are the research issues of sustainable science from a historical perspective and scientific perspective. Professor Wu revealed that ecological civilization construction should implement sustainable science, coordinate the dynamic relationship between people and the environment, and ultimately improve human well-being. Finally, professor Wu elaborated how to conduct sustainability measurement and combined with the UN Millennium Development Goals. He also considered that sustainability indicators should be diversified and sustainability evaluation should be multi-scale and multi-perspective.

Professor Wu bringing an academically forward-looking lecture to all researchers based on the construction of domestic ecological civilization. The lecture was rich in content and the atmosphere was warm. In the interactive session, the researchers conducted discussions and exchanges on the concept of sustainability, and the related issues of ecological footprint.
